oh happy day!

easter was one of those perfectly perfect kinda days.

ya know, that seems to happen so rarely on an actual holiday...the kind that you anticipate being all sorts of magical...you've made all of your special plans and preparations...only to have your fairytale wishes come crashing to the ground with the fact that real people actually exist and will attend and real events will actually take place and real food actually must be served and you completely forgot that gift for so-and-so and you've been living off nothing but excedrin and diet coke for 72 hours straight and....bbbblah. such are too many holidays. a lady becomes quite sure that these are not intended for celebration. no. no. no. they are here to kill us.

so! let's just say when life dishes you up a perfectly good, perfectly real and happy holiday... you must take lots of photos. and smile and go back and repeatedly look through them when you lock yourself in a closet with a xanax drip come christmas season.

and here it is...

 little bunny trails...

the big girls up bright and early...

emerson: "wuh?"....

easter dresses sent from Gamma & Pop...THANK YOU!

ready, set....HUNT....

candy for breakfast!

and an elsa braid?!!!

yes ellie, looks totally natural. nobody will ever guess...

all the single ladies, ready for church.

who were surprisingly more than willing to indulge mama in a photo op...

pfff, it's like they know they're cute or something...

{i did not approve of the pants or shoes. don't mess with a four-year old, is what i've learned} {with much pain}

emerson was not so much into the photo shoot.

but i'll be danged....

dat face.

my man. oh how i love him still.

speaking of hot pieces of meat...
{ba BAM!}

easter dinner!

i used this recipe for the ham, this one for potatoes, and this one for the peas. slam dunks. other than the fact that i tend to overcook all meat to the point of jerky (sad),
it was really good. definitely will use again.

our bunny cake!
courtesy of the adorable Eden - daughter to my good friend Alison. Alison is a rockstar mama to three kids. they kindly joined us for dinner, and the gods of california shined down in all of their warmth and glory...

{der. horribly overexposed photo.
i mean...the part when we reenacted the Easter story as resurrected beings!?! wah wah.}

Easter 2015, thank you very much.

that's a wrap!
